Emma’s weekly blog 4!
Happy Friday!
Have you managed to look up any benefits of your own since last week? Or even better experienced any benefits after your treatment? I would love to hear about them! If you are still in the process of deciding whether to take the leap and book an appointment, let me jump in and get started with this weeks blog……
What happens during the appointment?
We meet you at our appointment only salon and sit with you to discuss your consultation form and give you an opportunity to ask any pre-treatment questions; we then show you the treatment room and the bathroom where you use the toilet and get changed before and after your treatment.
Get changed?!
What on earth is she going to ask me to wear?!
Don’t worry, I’ve been there remember so I empathise with your feelings, you keep all your on clothes on above waist height plus your socks. I ask you to remove your lower body clothing including your underwear and wrap a long sheet around you – like a sarong (think Posh n Becks 1998).
In the treatment room you are asked to lay comfortably on your left side with the sarong now covering you like a duvet in bed (we have the heating on in winter so you are nice and warm); you even have a soft pillow to snuggle in to. We then coach you through a couple of gentle breathing exercises while we insert the speculum and connect the tubing. Once that is all connected we start the water flow and ask you to lie on your back; you are fully covered by the sheet, your dignity is maintained throughout and most importantly you are in control at all times.
The equipment we use is single use and disposable, the water is filtered and maintained at body temperature, the machine is a closed system which means that there are no smells as all the waste passes through the tubing and directly in to the sewage, there are safety features on the machine and equipment we use not to mention the training we have received which is recognised and certified nationally keeping you safe at all times.
The colon hydrotherapy lasts 40 minutes, is not painful and includes abdominal massage throughout the treatment, some clients like the lights dimmed right down so they can snooze throughout; once the forty minutes is complete you are disconnected from the machine (simple and painless) and asked to return to the bathroom where you can use the toilet and when you are ready, get dressed.
Meeting you back in reception we give you a drink of water and talk about how effective your treatment was, discuss your personalised aftercare and advise the duration we recommend until your next treatment.
